What you need

Red wine is a classic drink pairing with steak. In this recipe, we are adding plenty to the sauce and reducing it to a lovely syrup to burn off the alcohol. Sweet caramelised onions are then simmered in the red wine and KNORR Rich Brown Gravy is used to thicken this decadent sauce.



  1. What you need

    • Select the number of serves you require for this recipe, and the quantity of ingredients will be automatically adjusted accordingly.
  2. Steak

    • Season and cook fillet steaks to preferred doneness.
  3. Mushroom Sauce

    • Heat oil in a pan and slowly cook the onions until caramelised.
    • Add the shiraz and reduce by half.
    • Add water and whisk in KNORR Rich Brown Gravy, until boiling. Keep warm and ready for use.
  4. To Serve

    • Pour sauce over steak and serve.
