A classic and essential Korean side dish, or banchan, kimchi is made from vegetables fermented with chilli peppers and salt. The most familiar version uses cabbage, and in this recipe, kimchi adds a fusion Asian twist to a casual dining favourite.

Preparation

  1. What you need

    • Select the number of serves you require for this recipe, and the quantity of ingredients will be automatically adjusted accordingly.
  2. Patty

    • In a large bowl, combine beef mince and onions. Season and mix with your hands until fully combined.
    • Shape into large patties, cover, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
    • Heat a well-oiled chargrill or hot plate to high. Cook patties until well browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sweet Chilli Mayo

    • Combine KNORR Thai Sweet Chilli Jam and HELLMANN'S Real Mayonnaise. Set aside.
  4. To Cook & Serve

    • Grill or fry the bacon until golden and crispy. Drain and keep warm.
    • Lightly toast the buns and spread each side with sweet chilli mayo.
    • Layer starting with bottom bun, butter lettuce, beef patty, kimchi, bacon, and top bun.
    • Serving suggestion: Pair this with spiced beetroot crisps and extra kimchi, if preferred.
